This book was released on 2014-03-23 with total page 143 pages. Book excerpt: In this amazing work on the sinner’s justifying righteousness, Beart biblically and forcefully combats unbiblical views of justification, and teaches the reader what it means to stand before God in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. It is, in fact, a hearty work on the ever-important doctrine of justification. Beart covers , 1) the Law of God as a rule of duty and obedience, 2) how fallen man is utterly unable to answer the demands of the law, 3) how fallen man is unable to fulfill such a righteousness as is required to justification, and 4) how Jesus Christ fulfilled the law on behalf of the elect. He also covers the intricacies of how believers are made righteous only through Christ’s person, in his obedience and suffering, and that this justifying righteousness is equally imputed to all elect believers. This is accomplished by faith as an instrument. Not that faith is the matter of our justification, nor meritorious cause of it; but is used in this only as an instrument, not as a work. Read and Download John Eedes book Justification by Faith Alone in PDF, EPub, Mobi, Kindle online. Free book TJustification by Faith Alone. This book was released on 2014-03-02 with total page 158 pages. Book excerpt: Being concerning with the state of theology in his day surrounding justification being sorely abused, Eedes took great pains to write carefully and almost exhaustively about the biblical doctrine of justification by faith alone. He takes to task Mr. Erye, Mr. Woodbridge and Mr. Baxter on their deviant writings concerning the doctrine, and thoughtfully sets down the Bible’s teaching in accordance with orthodox Christianity. Eedes shows that justification by faith alone is not a physical act, but a judicial act. Justification is not by inherent righteousness, but God as judge in the court of mercy by judicial declaration remits sin to the believer through Christ’s merits, and absolves the sinner repenting, and believing. He masterfully refutes Antinomianism, Arminianism, Roman Catholicism and the new divinity of Richard Baxter on this point of doctrine. His aim is to press Christians not to be confounded on this foundational point of theology, but to embrace the truth and follow it in order to attain salvation found only through the merits of Jesus Christ. There is no doubt that this is one of the best treatments of justification by faith alone in print from any age in church history. Its usefulness today is without question knowing that so many professing Christians have no idea how to define or explain this crucial doctrine. Here Mr. Eedes will be of the utmost help. Today scholars from churches on both sides of the controversy are carefully rethinking the question. Dr. Toon shows how contemporary biblical scholarship and exegesis are attempting to resolve the thorny question of justification without compromising the integrity of either side. Provocative and far-reaching in its analysis and conclusions, Justification and Sanctification gives the student an invaluable introduction while providing the scholar a fresh look at the issue.

Book excerpt: With this study on Moltmann's pneumoatology the author recently obtained the doctor's degree from the Faculty of Theology of the Free University in Amsterdam. First of all, the book provides us with a thorough evaluation of the role the Holy Spirit plays in the theology of Jürgen Moltmann in its subsequent phases. The author's conclusion is that despite all differences there is one contstant factor: the Spirit is always connected with freedom. The Holy Spirit, according to Moltmann, is a liberating power. Because the author is eager to place Moltmann's pneumatology repeatedly in the context of his theology as a whole and of its developments, this book offers - and that is a second quality - an outstanding insight in the whole of Moltmann's theology and its development throughout the years.

This book was released on 2006 with total page 484 pages. Book excerpt: John Owen presents one of the most rigorous defenses of the Reformed doctrine of justification ever written. This reprint of The Doctrine of Justification by Faith, taken from the 19th century edition produced by the Presbyterian Board of Publications, will serve as a welcome improvement for many readers. Latin and Greek quotations have been moved to footnotes, and English translations are given for those large blocks of material that Owen left untranslated. It also contains a new introductory essay by Carl Trueman, which analyzes Owen's treatment of justification in light of the highly charged debates of his day. While Owen's work is technical and challenging, this edition is an effort to make his profound exposition more manageable.

Read and Download Gifford A. Grobien book Christian Character Formation in PDF, EPub, Mobi, Kindle online. Free book TChristian Character Formation. This book was released on 2019-05-16 with total page 231 pages. Book excerpt: Christian Character Formation investigates worship and formation in view of Christian anthropology, particularly union with Christ. Traditions which value justification by faith wrestle to some degree with how to describe and encourage ethical formation when salvation and righteousness are presented as gracious and complete. The dialectic of law and gospel has suggested to some that forgiveness and the advocacy of ethical norms contend with each other. By viewing justification and formation in light of Christ's righteousness which is both imputed and imparted, it is more readily seen that forgiveness and ethics complement each other. In justification, God converts a person, by which he grants new character. Traditional Lutheran anthropology says that this regeneration grants a new nature in mystical union with Jesus Christ. By exploring the Finnish Luther School led by Tuomo Mannermaa, Gifford A. Grobien explains how union with Christ imparts righteousness and the corresponding new character to the believer. Furthermore, as means of grace, the Word and sacraments are the means of establishing union with Christ and nurturing new character. Considering Oswald Bayer's "suffering" the word of Christ, Louis-Marie Chauvet's "symbolic order" and Bernd Wannenwetsch's understanding of worship as Christianity's unique "form of life," Grobien argues that worship practices are the foundational and determinative context in which grace is offered and in which the distinctively Christian ethos supports virtues consistent with Christian character. This understanding is also coordinated with Stanley Hauerwas's narrative ethics and Luther's teaching of virtue and good works in view of the Ten Commandments.
